Work and Family

Thompson Coburn LLP has always taken pride in attracting and retaining high-caliber lawyers. Our value is based on the quality of work done by associates and partners alike. One of the ways in which we return that value is in the form of strong work and family benefit programs. We continually review our policies to keep them as closely aligned as possible with the needs of our legal professionals. Read on for more information on our medical leave, flexible schedule and childcare policies.

Medical Leave
The Firm's medical leave policy applies to both women and men. Male and female associates receive up to 12 weeks paid time off for any type of medical leave. For our female associates, this would include maternity leave.

In addition, in accordance with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA), the Firm provides both male and female associates with 12 weeks of unpaid leave in a 12 month period for:

  • The birth of a child, or the placement of a child with the associate for adoption or foster care.
  • To provide necessary care for the associate's spouse, parent or child with a serious health condition.
