Class Action
The Firm has extensive experience in
defending corporate clients in class action litigation. Our Class Action practice
area attorneys have experience in defending nationwide and
statewide class actions in state and federal courts. The practice also draws on
the expertise of other practice groups to ensure that each case is staffed with
lawyers who are experienced in class action litigation and the substantive area
of law at issue in the case. The Firm has handled more than 250 class actions
in the past four years.
We have taken our litigation experience defending clients in many industries
and successfully applied those principles to many types of class actions.
Because of this expertise, we have emerged as a leading defender of
class action lawsuits nationwide. We have coordinated and led litigation
in multiple forums simultaneously.
Thompson Coburn LLP's technology, focusing on litigation support, is ranked by PricewaterhouseCoopers
as among the top 10 percent of large law firms nationwide who effectively
use technology. Attorneys regularly apply proprietary software, developed
specifically by the Firm, to the defense of class actions. Members of
the practice maintain an up-to-date database of reported decisions in
the class action area. The members established an internal library to
capture all class action work product. The members use computer and
communication systems providing instant access to large quantities of
documents in multiple locations. Our attorneys and paralegals are equipped
to transfer documents electronically from their desks to clients and
counsel. The Firm employs several electronic mail systems for exchanging
messages and data with clients and other law firms.
Because of our extensive experience in defending class actions,
we efficiently represent clients in these cases. We have the resources and
flexibility to staff each case on a cost-effective basis, whether it
is a relatively small matter that should be handled by a single lawyer, or
complex litigation for which a team of attorneys and paralegals
is required.
