We are pleased to announce that Claire Schenk, former Civil Chief and Assistant United States Attorney for the Office of the United States Attorney, Eastern District of Missouri, has joined the firm as a partner in the Business Litigation practice group. Claire will concentrate her practice on litigation involving health care fraud and abuse; whistleblower suits brought under the False Claims Act; and disputes involving government contracts, including those related to Small Business Investment Companies and minority and women-owned small business set aside contracts.

Claire brings to the firm substantial experience in the management and litigation of complex diputes. She successfully resolved one of the country’s largest False Claims Act suits resulting in the Government’s recovery of $350 million from Gambro Healthcare, Inc. That case arose from whistleblower allegations of hard coding, false billing and kickbacks to physicians. Other successful cases she prosecuted included the recovery of $76 million from General American Life Insurance Company related to whistleblower allegations of false contract performance; and $31 million from Community Health Systems to resolve a chain wide pattern of diagnosis related group (DRG) upcoding.

Claire is the recipient of many community and professional awards, including the prestigious Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance, the FBI Merit Award and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Integrity Award.
