Thompson Coburn supports and encourages membership in associations and other groups oriented toward minorities, as well as leadership positions within those organizations. We have long supported various community and professional diversity efforts.
- The firm was awarded the BLSA Washington University School of Law Diversity Award based on the firm’s dedication to providing employment opportunities for minority students through the St. Louis Diversity Clerkship Program, TC’s high number of mentors in the BLSA Mentor/Mentee Program, and the firm’s participation in BLSA meetings.
- We sponsor the annual MCBA Scovel Richardson Scholarship Dinner and participate in and sponsor the annual MCBA CLE Retreat and Golf Tournament. We also sponsor the Unity Dinner in collaboration with the MCBA and the Asian American Bar Association.
- Thompson Coburn was recognized for participation in Washington University’s Cultural Competency in the Legal Profession Symposium.
- Partner Judge Booker Shaw was selected as one of St. Louis Business Journal’s Diverse Business Leader award winners.
- Partner Liz Blackwell has served as chair of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis’ Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Committee. The committee addresses issues and developments affecting the GLBT community.
- Partner Pamela Meanes served as president of the Mound City Bar Association (the St. Louis Minority Bar Association) in 2006-2007. Pamela also is current co-chair of the ABA’s Legal Services Project and served as a regional director of the National Bar Association from 2007 to 2008. Pamela recently was accepted into the 2009 FOCUS St. Louis Leadership Program.
- We sponsor the radio station KMOX’s “Black History Month” campaign, which recognizes and honors the achievements of African Americans every February.
- We sponsor KMOX’s “Women of Achievement” campaign, which honors 10 St. Louis women for their outstanding contributions to the community, as well as their “Spotlight on Women and Minority Leaders” campaign, which salutes St. Louis-area women and minority leaders.
