Community Initiatives

Thompson Coburn supports and encourages membership in associations and other groups oriented toward minorities, as well as leadership positions within those organizations. We have long supported various community and professional diversity efforts.

  • Our firm served as the primary sponsor of the St. Louis ACC’s Street Law Program.

  • The firm was awarded the BLSA Washington University School of Law Diversity Award for its dedication to providing employment opportunities for minority students through the St. Louis Diversity Clerkship Program, Thompson Coburn’s high number of mentors in the BLSA Mentor/Mentee Program, and the firm’s participation in BLSA meetings.

  • We sponsor the annual MCBA Scovel Richardson Scholarship Dinner and participate in and sponsor the annual MCBA CLE Retreat. We also sponsor the Unity Dinner in collaboration with Missouri Asian American Bar Association (MAABA), the Mound City Bar Association (MCBA), Women Lawyer’s Association of Greater St. Louis (WLA), Lawyers for Equality (LFE), the Hispanic Bar Association of St. Louis (HBA) and the South Asian Bar Association (SABA).

  • Booker T. Shaw was recognized as the 2014 Outstanding Professional Mentor of the Year at the 10th Annual Black Law Student Association scholarship dinner at Washington University School of Law.
