Unfried v Charter Communications

The Firm has a track record of negotiating creative, low cost settlements of significant class actions. In this case, Thompson Coburn LLP successfully negotiated a low cost settlement of 18 class actions involving service and rate issues pending nationwide on behalf of Charter Communications. The settlement was regarded in the cable industry as the best achieved by any cable company facing similar litigation. The small amount of the negotiated settlement led to several members of the United States Congress citing the case as an example of misuse of class action suits on the part of plaintiffs, and as evidence of a need for class action reform.
