TC graphic designer wins national award for Circus Flora invitation

May 30, 2012

Taylor Marks

Thompson Coburn Senior Graphic Designer Taylor Marks won a national design honor in the 2012 American Inhouse Design Awards. Marks received the award for an electronic invitation she created last year for a firm outing to Circus Flora in St. Louis.

Marks applied a vintage style to the festive circus-themed design, which featured a clown, elephants and an old-fashioned printer's hand. Marks digitally illustrated all the images by hand.

“I found a circus-style font and picked a color scheme inspired by an old-world print poster,” Marks said.

Judges at New York-based Graphic Design USA magazine sorted through more than 4,000 entries from corporations, nonprofits, governments entities and educational institutions around the country. Marks’ design was among the top 15 percent selected for recognition. Her work will appear in an online gallery of award winners.

Marks has worked as graphic designer at TC for four years. She designs event invitations, advertisements, technical patent illustrations, demonstrative exhibits for trial and materials for internal and external ad campaigns. She has previously won awards for illustration and infographics.
