The University of Missouri’s 2nd annual Missouri Technology Expo will kick off on September 8th with a keynote speech by former United States Senator Kit Bond, a Thompson Coburn partner.
Thompson Coburn is a top sponsor of the Missouri Technology Expo, which will showcase Missouri technologies and provide a forum to connect researchers and innovators with the business community. During his keynote address, Bond will stress the potential technology holds for our State and nation – from creating high-paying jobs and bringing economic development to our communities to making possible the scientific advances that will solve global problems.
The Missouri Technology Expo will take place at the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center at the University of Missouri-Columbia, named after Senator Bond for his career-long advocacy for life sciences, first as Governor and then as a United States Senator. As the former Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that funds the National Science Foundation (NSF), Bond worked for years to increase our nation’s investment in basic research.
One of Bond’s proudest career achievements includes his work with scientists, community and business leaders to create a biotechnology corridor or “Bio-Belt” stretching across I-70 from St. Louis to Columbia to Kansas City, making Missouri a national leader in plant and animal biotechnology.
