ST. LOUIS, MO. — Thompson Coburn LLP is proud to announce that David L. Coffman has joined the firm as a partner. He will practice in the firm’s Product Liability Group, with a special focus on complex litigation involving hand and power tools, recreational products and toxic tort actions. Previously, he was a partner at Lewis Rice & Fingersh.
For nearly three decades, Coffman has represented manufacturers in product liability cases. He defends them in cases involving hand and power tools, recreational products, pneumatic nailers, automatic door systems, medical devices, automotive components, adhesives, escalators, and cranes and conveyors. In this role, Coffman advises national and multinational manufacturers on a variety of business and legal issues.
He also represents design and construction professionals who face professional liability claims involving defective construction and design errors and omissions, and counsels those professionals on effective risk management strategies.
Coffman’s extensive toxic tort experience includes the defense of cases involving dioxin, benzene, asbestos, and mold. He has tried and successfully resolved numerous state and federal cases involving product liability and toxic tort claims.
A member of the Defense Research Institute’s Product Liability Committee, Coffman is a regular author and speaker on various product liability and litigation-related topics.
He earned his J.D. with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law and obtained a B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Iowa.
