Thompson Coburn successfully led a campaign to decertify the union at one of its longtime client’s warehouses. The union had represented the warehouse employees at the location for more than 45 years.

On April 11, employees at the facility filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board seeking an election to remove the union as their bargaining representative. For five weeks, TC helped management present weekly speeches to the workforce to offer information on the benefits of operating union free. The major issues influencing the election were the high cost of union dues and the lack of quality representation provided by the union.

On May 17, the employees overwhelming voted in favor of decertifying the union. The union had not lost a decertification election in more eight years. This win maintains TC’s perfect record for the company, having never lost a union election for the client.

Partners Tim Sarsfield and Hope Abramov led the campaign on behalf of the company. Cliff Godiner, the co-chair of Thompson Coburn’s Labor and Employment Group, also provided invaluable assistance.
