Admiralty partner John Farmer was recently elected President of the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers (MODL). MODL represents the interests of Missouri’s civil defense trial lawyers and their business clients. Farmer has served on MODL’s Board of Directors for six years. He is a partner in St. Louis and the leader of the Admiralty Litigation practice area.
Farmer focuses his practice in admiralty and maritime litigation as well as product liability and toxic tort litigation. He has represented defendants in Jones Act cases, collision cases, limitation of liability cases, cargo disputes, vessel seizures, marine insurance matters, government agency matters as well as asbestos and benzene cases. Farmer has represented barge line and towing companies, chemical and petroleum companies, product manufacturers, and water-related construction companies in state and federal courts.
Farmer follows Thompson Coburn partner Dean Franklin, who served as MODL President in 2005-2006. In addition, Jennifer Baumann was also re-nominated for a three-year term on the MODL board. Baumann is a member of Thompson Coburn’s Business Litigation group.
