Matt's practice has been focused on the representation of defendants in maritime litigation and products liability litigation in jurisdictions around the country. His products liability litigation practice has included the defense of manufacturers and distributors of vehicles and industrial products. His maritime litigation practice has included the defense of personal injury cases, including under the Jones Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. He has also represented lenders in the foreclosure of preferred ship mortgages.  His trial experience includes the successful trial of a Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act claim involving traumatic brain injury.

Matt graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, where he was Editor in Chief of the Missouri Law Review.
