Lauren Newman practices in Thompson Coburn’s Financial Restructuring Group. She has over 25 years of experience in bankruptcy, insolvency and creditor’s rights, and has represented lenders, trade creditors, and secured and unsecured creditors both in and out of bankruptcy proceedings.

Her practice focuses on creditor's rights litigation, in which she has litigated numerous disputes in both the district courts and court of appeals, including:

- Mortgage Foreclosures and Workouts 
- Objections to confirmation of plans of reorganization 
- Automatic stay litigation 
- Bankruptcy fraud litigation 
- Claim objection proceedings 
- Bankruptcy appeals
- Forbearance agreements

Represented bank in workout involving $16.6 million dollar secured debt on an insolvent shipping company which resulted in the successful sale of the bank's debt.
In litigating bank client's objection to tool and die cast company's proposed Plan of Reorganization, obtained payment in full for the bank through sale of debtor's assets.
Automatic stay litigation on behalf of lenders, equipment lessors, auto dealership finance companies, and mortgage lenders.
In bankruptcy case in Delaware, successfully prosecuted motion to dismiss a preference action, resulting in complete dismissal of case against client.
Successfully defended objection to a claim based on a million dollar mechanic's lien. On appeal, the District court agreed that federal law did not preempt state law lien rights on federal construction projects.
Handled numerous bankruptcy appeals to the District Court and the Court of Appeals.
