Orisia is an associate in the firm's Transportation and International Commerce practice group. Her practice focuses on issues concerning the international trade and shipment of goods as well as commercial and maritime finance matters.
Orisia assists with research and analysis of issues relating to valuation, classification and origin of imported merchandise, as well as export controls pertaining to dual use goods under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), munitions under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and sanctions imposed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Orisia has worked on investigations of potential import and export compliance issues, drafted voluntary disclosures of identified violations, and assisted in defending clients in penalty and seizure cases in front of U.S. regulatory agencies, such as Customs and Border Protection.
In addition, Orisia routinely prepares loan and security documents, and other instruments related to the acquisition, sale, and financing of vessels and equipment. She also handles matters related to the U.S. Coast Guard, including the review of vessel documentation, recording of various financing instruments and review of citizenship qualifications.
