Donna is an Analyst in the Tobacco Litigation practice area. She possesses over 15 years of experience working on many phases of litigation for Firm client Lorillard Tobacco Company:
- drafting written discovery requests and responses;
- managing the Lorillard written response team (WRT);
- participating in document collection;
- managing document reviews;
- identifying trade secret and privilege documents;
- producing documents to plaintiffs and a depository;
- analyzing documents, testimony, and exhibits;
- coordinating with witnesses on reliance documents;
- providing research support to trial teams.
Donna has a broad knowledge of Lorillard's corporate history, scientific research, product development, advertising, marketing, and current litigation issues.
Donna worked on over 300 cases for the same tobacco client while employed at Shook, Hardy & Bacon in Kansas City as a Senior Analyst. Since joining Thompson Coburn in 2002, she has assisted the Tobacco Litigation attorneys in preparing to defend Lorillard at trial in three types of complex litigation:
1) a landmark RICO case brought by the US DOJ;
2) a reimbursement action brought by MO hospitals;
3) a mass consolidation of individual cases in WV.
Additionally, Donna tracks activity in all cases for which Thompson Coburn is lead trial counsel for Lorillard to draft quarterly and year-end letters to Lorillard's auditors. She is proficient in using electronic resources and is the Firm's point person for specialized databases used in tobacco litigation.
Donna provides support for all of the attorneys in the Firm's Tobacco Litigation practice area. She also has supported Thompson Coburn attorneys on litigation outside her primary practice area, particularly on projects involving factual research, deposition preparation, document analysis, and written discovery.
