The best way to deal with problems in the workplace is to prevent them. We provide a full range of training and counseling services on emerging labor and employment issues, including FMLA/ADA leave, military leave and reemployment, discipline and discharges, sexual harassment investigations, wage and hour issues, safety and OSHA issues, internal discrimination complaints, interviewing, background checks and hiring practices, and any other issue that might arise in the relationship between employer and employee. Most critical, we provide advice on an as-needed basis regarding issues that often arise in the workplace, such as discipline, discharge, leave of absence issues and accommodation issues.
Training
We conduct on-site management and employee training on topics of importance to individual clients, including sexual harassment prevention, FMLA/ADA compliance, and performance counseling and improvement. We distribute quarterly newsletters and bulletins addressing recent developments in employee benefits and labor and employment law. We also develop and distribute seminars in a CD format addressing current topics such as the recent Fair Pay regulations.
Thompson Coburn also has a long history of sponsoring and presenting quality legal seminars at no charge to clients. For example, we present an annual Human Resources Law seminar with CLE/SPHR credit designed for lawyers and human resources professionals to help them stay abreast of new trends and developments in the dynamic field of human resources law.
Policy and Handbook Audits and Agreement Drafting
We review handbooks and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, and propose revisions and policy additions. We work with clients in reviewing or drafting employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements and non-compete agreements. We also provide assistance in compliance with affirmative action programs and similar matters affecting organizations receiving public funds.
