Thompson Coburn’s immigration team provides creative, personalized, high quality immigration advice to corporations, businesses, individuals, investors and nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad. We work with large and small, domestic and international businesses, in various industry sectors, in developing and implementing comprehensive immigration strategies.

Our focus is on client service. We understand the need to promptly obtain necessary authorizations and approvals to meet our clients’ ultimate goals and ensure the smooth transition of international personnel. At the same time, we provide foreign workers with the information and guidance they need to comfortably make the transition to the U.S.

Our team offers extensive experience and legal services in immigration law, which includes involvement with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS), the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). We find that working with CIS, DOS and DOL – and staying abreast of their ever-changing laws, policies and procedures – provides us with the necessary edge in meeting our client objectives.

On a routine basis, our group obtains non-immigrant (temporary) and immigrant (permanent) visas for individuals in a wide variety of careers, specialties and interests, including business executives and managers, engineers, computer professionals, scientists, health care professionals, specialized technical personnel, investors and students. We handle the whole range of filings, from the initial application filing, to obtaining extensions and devising a plan for keeping an employee in the U.S. while awaiting the green card.

Thompson Coburn’s Immigration group is currently ranked #1 in Missouri by The Best Lawyers in America®.

In order to obtain a permanent resident visa for E-2 investors, we obtained and developed financial reports, tax returns, business licenses, corporate documents, certificates of good standing, marketing brochures, foreign vendor invoices, and statements from a foreign embassy.

To enable a Middle East company and its personnel to establish a new business enterprise in Washington, D.C., we obtained and developed shareholder documents (with English translation), share certificates, certificates of good standing, charts of projected staffing needs, corporate hierarchy charts, lease documents, draft agreements with potential capital investors, strategic plans for expansion into the U.S. market, consultant proposals, reseller agreements, and software contracts.
