Union Avoidance
Our traditional labor lawyers have a focused practice in union avoidance. For example, we have defeated union organizing drives at manufacturing facilities, each with more than 1,000 hourly employees in Arkansas; at an agricultural production facility in Hawaii with 500 workers; at a silicone wafer manufacturing plant in Missouri with 700 employees; and at a chemical plant with more than 800 employees in Florida. We have also handled a number of decertification and deauthorization elections for clients throughout the United States and most recently in Chicago, Illinois; Seattle, Washington; San Diego, California; and Dallas, Texas.
With the current administration’s pursuit of the Employee Free Choice Act, it is critical that employers wishing to remain union-free adopt policies and conduct training sessions designed to avoid a union campaign before one begins. In recent years, we have developed and presented such programs in Washington, D.C.; Greenville, South Carolina; Fort Smith, Arkansas; Houston, Texas; and Chicago, Illinois.
