e-Discovery in Litigation
At the pre-litigation stage, we work with our clients to develop proper retention policies, to understand their electronic data architecture and files, and to manage and improve their electronic document organization and retention.
Once litigation appears likely, we help clients issue proper litigation holds—a crucial and sometimes neglected step, given the ease with which important ESI can be lost or destroyed. In litigation, we help clients save and collect relevant materials and process, search, review and produce electronic documents.
Our litigation support services for clients have included:
• media handling, including ESI dashboards and chain-of-custody documentation
• e-discovery processing, including deduping, metadata extraction and data hosting
• document management services (supporting review and analysis)
• document production services, including imaging, redacting, etc.
• custom database development
We have handled e-discovery issues for clients in many fields:
• regulatory and criminal investigations
• labor and employment
• class actions
• intellectual property
• other complex litigation
These cases have included the filtering, review and production of many terabytes' worth of data. Our Client Technology Services department provides significant in-house technological capabilities, and we also are experienced in managing outside electronic discovery vendors for work on large cases. This allows us to help clients choose effective and cost-efficient means of handling discovery in their cases.
Our e-Discovery Practice Group members are available to assist clients on all litigation matters involving electronic discovery.
