Thompson Coburn invites you to its fifth annual Labor, Employment & Benefits Breakfast. Just a few days into summer in Chicago, our human resources attorneys will blaze through a melting pot of sizzling topics highlighting important developments so that employers don't get burned. Specifically, this interactive session will address:

  • Supreme Court, Federal and State Court Update – We’ll examine major rulings handed down over the last year from federal and state courts that will be impacting the HR landscape and ways in which to protect your company in light of some of those decisions.
  • DOL and EBSA Update – The Employee Benefits Security Administration, an agency of the Department of Labor, is auditing defined benefit pension plans and welfare plans that are subject to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. We will summarize lessons learned from recent audits and outline preemptive steps you should take now.
  • DOL Update – We will examine developments from the Department of Labor over the last year, including recent opinion letters from the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division regarding the Fair Labor Standards Act, and ways in which to protect your company from FLSA violations in light of the Department’s recent guidance.
  • Changes at the NLRB under the Trump Administration – We will outline some of the major case and regulatory law changes at the NLRB in the wake of new Trump administration appointments and what else may be planned for the near future.
