Felicia Williams named 2019 Young Leader by the St. Louis American

February 26, 2019

On February 21, Thompson Coburn litigation partner Felicia Williams was honored by the St. Louis American at the 9th Annual Salute to Young Leaders reception. Each year, the publication selects 20 local African Americans under the age of 40 who achieve excellence in their profession and their community.

Among the young professionals honored this year are university directors, C-suite executives, medical practitioners, financial advisors, and more. The annual awards seek to highlight young leaders “so future generations can see others like themselves performing at a high level,” wrote St. Louis American Foundation President Donald Suggs in the introduction to the Young Leaders section of the newspaper.

In her feature in the publication, Felicia discussed how Thompson Coburn and her colleagues at the Firm have contributed to her success. “The firm has invested in me – from connecting me with a legion of talented mentors to giving me access to hands-on professional training and advancement workshops,” she told the St. Louis American. “Over the last decade, my litigation experience has developed tremendously, and that is thanks to the support of my partners at the firm and the opportunities I’ve had to expand my skills and work directly with clients.”

Felicia also offered advice to female African American college students considering law school. “A law school career is a huge investment – of money, time and mental energy. If you learn as much as you can about the law school experience and the practice of law, and are excited about everything you will learn, then you will get a much bigger return on your investment.”
