Andrea Lowry, J.D.

Director of Professional Recruiting & Development

St. Louis
314 552 6339 direct

Andrea excels at connecting talented attorneys and legal professionals with a firm dedicated to diversity, mentorship, and exceptional personal and professional development opportunities.

As Thompson Coburn's Director of Professional Recruiting & Development, Andrea leads a broad administrative department focused on diversity, professional development and CLE, and the recruitment of counsel, associates, and law students.

Andrea coordinates the Firm's nationwide lateral counsel and associate recruiting efforts, and works closely with management on lateral partner recruiting. Her department also handles law student recruiting and manages Thompson Coburn's summer associate program, which attracts a diverse field of candidates from law schools across the country.

Thompson Coburn provides a robust calendar of CLE programming for attorneys in all offices; Andrea's department manages the development and accreditation of those courses. Her group also coordinates the Firm's three mentorship programs, which pair incoming attorneys with Thompson Coburn attorneys based on the mentee's priorities, such as practice area experience, business development goals, and work/life balance. Many firm leaders, including Chairman Tom Minogue, participate in the programs every year. The department also facilitates the twice-yearly performance review and compensation process for associates and counsel.

Andrea's department includes the Practice Support Services group, where a diverse pool of 60+ legal professionals gives our attorneys the depth of support they need to provide the highest level of client service. This group includes paralegals, practice area assistants and litigation clerks, and also provides practice-specific docketing services, patent and trademark illustration, medical consultation, legal investigation and other professional non-attorney services throughout the firm's offices.

Andrea started her career as a paralegal inside a major corporate law department. She later moved into an operations role for that same department, where her responsibilities included helping to develop a significant budget, coordinating staff recruiting, and working closely with law team leadership on various operational issues. She earned both a bachelor's and a law degree while working full-time and attending night courses.
