Eric assists clients across a wide range of environmental fields, drawing on his extensive experience in compliance counseling, transactional matters and litigation to respond to all types of environmental, health and safety issues. He works collaboratively with clients, helping them achieve their goals while minding risk mitigation and business needs.
He guides clients of all sizes through contractual and transactional matters, such as due diligence needs associated with acquisitions and divestitures, as well as matters associated with real property. Eric helps clients interpret and comply with operating permits. He provides advice and assists with legal arguments in the regulatory agency enforcement context. He has been involved in insurance coverage disputes involving environmental claims. He has regularly advised entities on self-auditing and helped close regulatory gaps where identified.
As the former in-house environmental counsel of a large publicly-traded pharmaceutical company, Eric ensured company-wide EH&S compliance, led environmental due diligence on business divestitures in excess of $3 billion, and managed a $60 million-plus environmental reserve for Superfund, RCRA and state law remediation sites around the country.
Eric has served extensively on litigation teams defending clients from Superfund claims and in pursuing contribution recovery from responsible parties. His litigation experience includes working with experts and deposing opposing parties' experts. In previous roles, he has helped defeat high-dollar claims through creative thinking and problem-solving.
