Erik heads a team of nationally recognized technology professionals who ensure information security, develop cutting-edge programs and applications, manage trial technology and e-discovery needs, and collaborate with clients on unique IT projects.
A decorated U.S. Army veteran and former CIO of two major law firms, Erik brings over 25 years of dynamic operational leadership to his role. Known nationwide for his ability to seamlessly integrate people, processes, technology, and operations, Erik has spearheaded initiatives that have cut costs and maximized profits through innovative tech planning, sound operating standards, and reliable IT infrastructure. He also serves on the firm’s AI Task Force helping to drive innovation amid shifts in technology.
Before joining Thompson Coburn, Erik was the Chief Information & Operations Officer at Spectrum Healthcare Partners. There, he oversaw central operations, privacy, and security for a network of 200 physicians and 750 employees across 91 facilities and 14 corporate locations. He also served as CIO for Bradley Arant Boult Cummings in Birmingham, Alabama, and Miller Johnson in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he built advanced IT teams, led risk management, and developed innovative tech strategies with firm clients and leadership.
Erik was recognized twice by Computerworld Magazine for his development and deployment of a SharePoint-based enterprise content management system that improved efficiency, reduced risk, and increased revenue.
Erik’s career began in the U.S. Army, where he served in combat and support roles, eventually becoming a commissioned Warrant Officer. As the Chief Information Management Officer for the Gulf War Declassification Project, initiated by President Bill Clinton, Erik designed and managed an automated system that processed millions of Department of Defense records, earning him the Legion of Merit for exceptional service.
