Cody Deterding helps clients protect and capitalize on their innovations through strategic use of trade secrets, trademarks, and patents. Drawing on nearly eight years of engineering experience, Cody brings deep technical and industry insight to his intellectual property practice.
Before joining Thompson Coburn, Cody worked as a Mechanical Engineer, contributing to large-scale construction and energy projects. His technical background and experience with a vast array of mechanical and electrical technologies allow him to translate complex engineering concepts into effective legal protections for inventors, startups, and established companies.
Cody earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri–Columbia and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
