For more than 30 years, Evan has served as a trusted advisor to hospitals, health care systems, long-term care facilities, health plans, physicians, and other businesses involved in the health care industry.
Evan co-chairs Thompson Coburn's Corporate Department and also serves on the Firm's Management and Executive Committees.
Whether leading a large multi-hospital system through a major acquisition or fielding questions about day-to-day operations at a small regional hospital, Evan centers her representation around the specific needs and objectives of her clients. She understands the tremendous time and budget pressures facing today's health care industry, and responds by listening carefully to her clients' concerns and providing succinct, targeted advice.
Evan has extensive experience negotiating corporate transactions ranging from hospital mergers and acquisitions, to contractual and equity joint ventures, to physician employment agreements and hospital-based physician independent contractor agreements. She counsels health care entities on a wide variety of regulatory compliance issues — both in the context of structuring corporate transactions and managing day-to-day operational issues. She regularly assists clients with issues related to: Stark Law, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, HIPAA, EMTALA, responding to government investigations, and initiating self-disclosures.
One of Evan's clients describes her as "a wonderful advisor who puts herself in my shoes and helps me create practical strategies that evaluate risk and move us forward." "She's thoughtful, prudent, and completely dedicated to the issues that matter most to our organization." In all types of matters, Evan focuses on helping clients navigate critical issues in a way that minimizes risk while still accomplishing the client's business objectives.
