Greg Patterson is a seasoned legal advisor with a robust track record in guiding institutional investors with more than $100 billion in investable assets, representing clients in private equity, venture capital (VC), real estate, and hedge fund investments. He negotiates more than 100 such investments annually, using the firm’s knowledge base of industry trends to analyze security offerings and identify alternative opportunities.
He also represents sophisticated private equity, private real estate, venture capital and fund-of-funds sponsors in fund formation, acquisitions and general corporate governance. Greg is vice chair of the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice as well as the Investment Management practice.
Representing investment managers, Greg has led fund formation efforts for numerous private fund sponsors, with a particular focus on the Midwest region and the development of the St. Louis economy. Greg and his team have advised many of the most prolific venture capital investors in the region for several years. He represents incubator/venture capital financing institutions in economic development efforts across the Midwest. Greg also leads acquisition teams on behalf of the private funds and other corporate clients in M&A transactions.
While simultaneously pursuing law and graduate business degrees, Greg worked with venture capital teams focused on domestic investments by foreign investors. His background as a financial advisor before his legal career adds a unique depth to his counsel, blending legal acumen with business insight.
Greg has significant experience representing public and private companies in a broad range of merger, acquisition and disposition transactions. He has represented issuers and underwriters in a variety of corporate transactions, including public and private debt and equity offerings.
