Gustavo De La Fuente is a law clerk in the Litigation practice group and a J.D. candidate at the University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law. He supports the firm’s litigation and bankruptcy practices by assisting with legal research, drafting memoranda and pleadings, reviewing discovery materials, and supporting trial preparation across a range of complex commercial and bankruptcy matters.
Before joining Thompson Coburn, Gustavo externed with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas and served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Irma Carrillo Ramirez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, drafting appellate briefing and bench memoranda in federal criminal and civil matters.
Gustavo additionally serves as a 1st Lieutenant in the Texas Army National Guard appointed the role of Legal Support Officer.
Prior to his existing role, Gustavo managed the logistical and operational readiness of his platoon and oversaw all administrative, medical, and organizational needs of over 40 soldiers while on state active duty order for Operation Lone Star (OLS).
Gustavo graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. from Texas A&M University-San Antonio and has years of experience with public policy, office administration, leadership development, and educational achievement.

Outside the office, I love cooking Tex-Mex, playing my Nintendo Switch, and going on dates with my husband, Cris. I’m drawn to Asian culture—especially anime and ramen—and recently welcomed a new cat named Mochi into our home. When I’m not doing that, I’m usually strength training, hiking, or planning my next trip.
