Ken Salomon has a strong track record as an effective lobbyist and advocate for his U.S. and international clients. He is experienced taking on even the most powerful interests in Washington.
Ken’s ability to find creative approaches to influencing federal policy for clients in many industries is well known. His experience lobbying the U.S. Congress and administration includes advocating for a nonprofit student loan servicer; securing amendment to the SEC short selling regulation; addressing how state sales tax is applied to e-commerce sales; securing e-learning students eligibility to receive federal financial aid; representing the Canadian steel industry to secure exemption from U.S. import quota programs; helping create a 2+ billion voucher program allowing every American to purchase analog-to-digital television conversion equipment; and assembling a coalition of interested parties help convince a federal department to rescind a proposed $400 million penalty.
Whether lobbying on behalf of an individual client or assembling a coalition, Ken believes in doing a deep dive into his client’s business. Becoming his clients’ partner in D.C., Ken studies the challenge at hand to come up the government relations strategy to best address it. His decades of experience with the federal legislative and administrative process – and its evolution – also allow him to give clients advance notice of both the opportunities and speed bumps that lie ahead to successfully navigate Washington, DC.
No stranger to the workings of government and the federal legislative process, Ken has served as Deputy Chief Counsel for the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration and as Attorney Advisor/Supervising Attorney for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). He has also lectured on International Telecommunications at the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies and has served as an elected member of the Ethics Committee of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
“I have worked with Ken Salomon for many years on a wide array of complex and important government relations matters. He is the consummate government relations professional. Ken is quick to understand the importance of an issue and its nuances, creative in his proposed solutions, well-connected at many levels of government, clear in his presentation, and both forceful and tactful in his advocacy.”

I’m a devoted reader of thrillers and police procedural fiction. A particular favorite are the novels of author John Sandford. When I’m not working or reading, I enjoy watching TV, particularly sports, British TV thrillers and PBS history and science programs and, of course, spending time with my grandson.
