Larry Friedman is a business litigator experienced in complex cases involving shareholder rights, business valuations, fiduciary duty claims, and other contract and business disputes. Larry is known for trying and arguing in the Eighth Circuit the leading decision establishing how minority interests are valued under Missouri law.
Larry handles matters across the areas of corporate litigation, appellate litigation, fiduciary disputes, and arbitration-related litigation. With almost 40 years of experience, he has an outstanding record, including multi-million-dollar verdicts and judgments in bench trial, jury trials, and arbitrations. Larry’s practice is national in scope, and he has tried and argued cases in Missouri, Illinois, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Georgia, and other states.
Before joining Thompson Coburn, Larry was a law clerk on the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and served as deputy counsel for the President’s Commission on Organized Crime in the United States Department of Justice.

- Represented a large multi-national equipment and services business in litigation brought by minority equity holders who claimed that officers and directors of the company breached fiduciary and other duties to minority equity holders After five years of litigation and while summary judgment motions were pending, the plaintiffs dismissed their claims.
- Represented minority shareholders in the leading reported case on valuation of minority interests in closely held Missouri corporations.
- Represented a minority shareholder in a jury trial on fiduciary duty claims against majority shareholders of a closely held corporation. Obtained a multi-million-dollar verdict in favor of the minority shareholder.
- Represented public retirement system asserting claims against a custodian bank. Successfully argued in the Eighth Circuit that the case could proceed in state court.
