Margie Krumholz is nationally known for her work in maritime finance/leasing and maritime regulatory matters, particularly those related to the Jones Act, including citizenship qualification.

Margie’s practice spans more than 40 years representing borrowers, lenders, lessors, and lessees in structuring, negotiating, and closing financing transactions, including leases, leveraged leases, and cross-border transactions. She is experienced in the U.S. government guarantee program for vessels.

Margie also handles vessel sales and purchases, and portfolio sales. In addition to financing transactions, she counsels private equity and hedge fund clients in their investments in maritime businesses in the U.S. Jones Act trade. Other large firms have sought Margie’s unique experience in this area when dealing with transactions that have maritime components. She is a former chair of the Marine Financing Committee of the Maritime Law Association of the United States.

Margie counsels clients on maritime regulatory matters, including citizenship qualification before the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Maritime Administration (MarAd), the applicability of the Jones Act, the registration of ships in the United States and foreign countries, and the MarAd capital construction fund program.
