As the manager of the Risk Management Counsel team, Stephanie Powell is responsible for upholding the firm’s ethical standards through careful review and analysis of potential conflicts of interest among clients and attorneys.
She ensures the firm cross-references incoming and existing clients, opposing parties, and related entities.
Before joining the firm, Stephanie was most recently a senior advisor in enterprise risk management for the U.S. Department of Education’s office of Federal Student Aid, where she developed a strong foundation in risk management with particular focus on fraud and compliance risks.
Stephanie began her career as an associate at an Am Law 200 firm, advising corporate clients on employee benefit plans, executive compensation matters, and risks and issues in mergers and acquisitions. She applied that client-centered approach and compliance knowledge to various roles in higher education administration and worked with law students from admission through graduation and beyond. Throughout her varied experiences, Stephanie has focused on identifying risks and issues and collaboratively working to develop process improvements and solve problems.
I love exploring all that D.C. has to offer, including taking advantage of the great trails for cycling. I also love traveling in the U.S. and abroad.
