Talar Berberian advocates for clients in land use, zoning and licensing matters. While she has spent much of her career representing clients in this capacity throughout Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, she currently splits time between Chicago and Los Angeles.

Talar helps property owners, developers, and real estate purchasers secure timely zoning approvals for both residential and commercial developments, drawing on Thompson Coburn’s longstanding relationships with city and municipal officials to successfully tackle the complex zoning and community engagement process.

She closely monitors the frequent changes made to city and municipal zoning laws across Chicago and has been particularly involved in recent projects involving transit-oriented development and affordable housing as municipalities continue to update policies and ordinances in these areas. Talar also has experience navigating changing policies related to cannabis businesses, signage, and electric vehicle charging facilities.

In addition, Talar works with a diverse client base in a broad range of real estate matters, including the development, financing, acquisition and sale of commercial real estate.

Talar’s unique educational background in urban planning gives her a holistic perspective of the challenges and opportunities clients face in various stages of real estate development and financing.
