Bill Bay, partner at Thompson Coburn and immediate past president of the American Bar Association, was recognized with the Robert Walston Chubb Award by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM) during its annual For the Common Good Awards, honoring his longstanding commitment and advocacy.
The Robert Walston Chubb Award is given annually to an individual who has made significant and sustained contributions to the work of LSEM. It is the highest honor bestowed by the organization.
Bill has been a dedicated supporter of Legal Services for more than two decades. In addition to his work with Legal Services, Bill has held numerous leadership roles within the American Bar Association. He recently completed his service as ABA President from 2024 to 2025, following his term as Chair of the ABA House of Delegates from 2018 to 2020. He is also a past Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation, the largest section within the ABA, and previously served on the ABA Board of Governors, where he chaired the Finance Committee.
Dan Glazier, executive director of LSEM, also recognized Thompson Coburn for its key role in establishing the William B. Guerri Chair for children’s educational advocacy, a lasting initiative that continues to serve vulnerable youth in the region. Past recent recipients of the Robert Walston Chubb Award from Thompson Coburn include William Guerri, Tom Minogue and Senator Thomas Eagleton.
