Booker Shaw Joins Legal Roundtable to Examine Key Legal Issues Facing the St. Louis Region

On a recent edition of St. Louis Public Radio’s Legal Roundtable, Thompson Coburn partner and retired Judge Booker Shaw joined a panel of attorneys to discuss several significant legal controversies currently unfolding in the St. Louis region.

One topic discussed during the program was the $4.2 million settlement reached between the owners of Bar:PM and several current and former St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers. The lawsuits stemmed from a 2023 incident in which a police SUV crashed into the south St. Louis bar, leading to years of litigation and a trial before the parties ultimately reached a resolution.

Reflecting on the settlement, Booker noted the value of resolving disputes without leaving the outcome to a jury. “A settlement, often times both sides are probably unhappy about it, but you removed the uncertainty, so I think it’s probably a good thing,” he said.

Booker was joined on the program by attorneys Brendan Roediger and Nicole Gorovsky as they discussed the broader legal and public policy implications of these developments.
