Thompson Coburn partners Ed Cohen and Peter Stark Strassner were recognized in the 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Environmental Lawyers – The Green 500 list.

Ed’s dispute resolution focus draws heavily on his decades of national litigation practice addressing and resolving complex lawsuits, many of which involve environmental issues. Ed increasingly is being called upon to serve as settlement counsel, and he is on the Miles Mediation & Arbitration panel of neutrals. Ed is particularly known for his work involving federal and state environmental enforcement actions and citizen suits across the country. Offering multiple decades of experience, he works with clients and parties to prevent or mitigate potentially challenging environmental issues.
Peter draws on 30 years of environmental law experience to pursue unique and highly effective strategies that resolve environmental issues. Peter has developed solutions for clients that have dramatically reduced cleanup costs or liability, resulted in successful “no action required” determinations, and allowed for the closure or sale of previously contaminated sites. Frequently Peter’s contributions have enabled a company to favorably resolve expensive litigation or put an end to decades of costly and ineffective environmental cleanups.
