Thompson Coburn partner Laura Jordan and associate Layla Husen have been named 2025 Women’s Justice Award recipients by Missouri Lawyers Media. Laura, who leads the firm’s Litigation Department, will be honored for her exceptional litigation work, while Layla is being recognized for her remarkable pro bono contributions. Their achievements, alongside those of other distinguished nominees, will be celebrated at a banquet at the Ameristar Resort & Casino in St. Charles on April 10.
Laura represents employers throughout the United States in all aspects of employment law. She brings over 25 years of experience to develop practical but effective strategies to help employers manage state and federal workplace laws. Representing a client base that includes large corporations, manufacturers and financial institutions, Laura has extensive jury trial, arbitration and class action experience, leading litigation teams that have prevailed in notable rulings nationwide. In addition to her role as chair of the firm’s Litigation Department, she is also co-chair of the Labor and Employment practice group, a member of the Executive and Management Committees, and past chair of the Women’s Initiative.
Layla handles business litigation matters including regulatory enforcement actions, business disputes, and toxic tort defense. Her litigation successes have included obtaining a summary judgment win in a putative class action seeking millions in damages and providing crucial jury trial support that assisted in securing a full defense verdict. She recently played a large role in the high-profile release of Christopher Dunn, who was exonerated last year after spending 34 years in prison. Her role in that case included taking direct and cross examinations, as well as briefing emergency issues to the Missouri Supreme Court.
