Thompson Coburn announced today the addition of Michael Educate as a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. He will be based in Thompson Coburn’s Chicago office.
Educate is a trial lawyer with over a decade of experience in all aspects of dispute resolution and strategic counseling, focusing on commercial litigation and tax controversy matters. He frequently represents clients in the financial services industry, privately held enterprises and family offices, as well as global brand retailers and motor vehicle manufacturers. Educate also brings substantial transactions experience, with an emphasis on strategic acquisitions and out-of-court workouts and settlements.

Educate often handles disputes involving asset and business valuations and complex damages claims in both commercial disputes and tax controversies. This part of Educate’s practice has honed his unique skillset and enabled him to work with clients in a wide range of fields, including corporate finance, forensic accounting, economics, valuation and transfer pricing. He also maintains a robust pro bono practice, representing individuals in immigration, taxation, special education and family law matters.

Educate earned his J.D. degree from University of Chicago Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Yale University. He joins from Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg.
