Thompson Coburn is Texas proud after first year in Dallas

March 4, 2021

Thompson Coburn is celebrating its first anniversary in Texas after opening the Firm’s Dallas office during a year dominated by robust competition in the legal industry and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our Dallas team includes wonderful, smart people who have made our first Texas office a huge success despite a competitive market and the many challenges presented by COVID,” says Thompson Coburn chair Roman Wuller.

Thompson Coburn is committed to continuing our strong growth in Dallas and building on the office’s extensive collaboration with other Thompson Coburn locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, Southern Illinois, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.

In the last year, Thompson Coburn’s Dallas attorneys have worked on matters for clients Southwest Airlines, Bayer AG (Monsanto), Charter Communications, Paper Source, and Gruma Corp. (Mission Foods), among others.

The Firm’s first Texas outpost was launched by experienced trial lawyers Nicole Williams, the Dallas managing partner, and fellow partners Elizabeth Myers, Jenny Ecklund and Katie Clark.

“We were one the few law firms to open a new office during the early days of the pandemic, but the quality of our people has only made us stronger,” said Nicole. “We’re glad to work at a Firm that takes pride in having a major office led by women lawyers who share the Firm’s commitment to diversity.”

Since founding its Dallas office, Thompson Coburn has added six additional attorneys, including partners Mackenzie Wallace, Dawn Wright and Jasmine Wynton; counsel  John Atkins; and associate Kamran Anwar. In addition to the 9 lawyers, the Dallas office also is home to one paralegal and two support staff.

During the past year, Thompson Coburn earned attention in legal circles and media reports for representing a group calling themselves Concerned Lawyers of Color in an amicus brief opposing a high-profile legal challenge to mandatory bar dues in Texas. The case is pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

The firm’s Dallas office focuses on business litigation, product liability litigation, health care, labor and employment, bankruptcy and energy law.
