Elizabeth Lobaugh represents employers in a broad range of employment disputes and workplace matters.

Liz has substantial experience defending employers in California state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, wage and hour class actions, PAGA litigation, and single-plaintiff employment claims. She partners with clients to develop practical strategies that address litigation risk while supporting their broader business objectives.

Liz manages matters through all stages of litigation, from pre-suit counseling and case assessment through mediation, arbitration, trial preparation, and resolution. Her experience includes drafting and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, managing complex discovery, and advising employers on litigation exposure and settlement strategy. She regularly defends employers in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour compliance.

Before joining Thompson Coburn, Liz practiced labor and employment law at Sacramento-based firms, where she served as day-to-day counsel to California employers and independently handled sophisticated employment matters. Known for her practical approach and responsiveness, she is trusted by clients and colleagues to provide effective counsel, navigate complex workplace disputes, and build lasting client relationships.

Prior to entering private practice, she worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., where she conducted trade investigations, applied U.S. and World Trade Organization regulations, and prepared reports supporting federal regulatory decisions.
