Real Estate/Tax Credit/Commercial Finance Associate – Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, or Washington D.C.

Thompson Coburn is seeking an associate with 2-4 years of experience in commercial lending, real estate, and/or mergers and acquisitions to join its tax credit finance practice.  Experience with tax-advantaged investments is preferred but not required.

The practice is an active and diverse real estate and commercial finance practice with a focus on tax-credit subsidized equity and debt financings. Transactions are multi-faceted, often involving public/private partnerships with two or more sources of debt financings and multiple equity investors. The successful candidate will be an outgoing self-starter who can quickly take an active role in the documentation and closing of these transactions and will be expected to work closely with all transaction parties, including banks and other financial institutions, private equity firms, state and local governments, and their respective counsel.

Tax Associate – Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, or Washington D.C.

Thompson Coburn is seeking an associate with 2-4 years of experience in federal income tax. The ideal candidate must have experience working with partnership and corporate taxation (including S corporations) on a broad range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and real estate transactions. Knowledge of international taxation, tax credit transactions, ruling requests and/or tax exempt entities would be a plus.

​Construction Real Estate Senior Associate or Counsel – Chicago or St. Louis

Thompson Coburn, a full-service law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate with 5-8 years of construction and real estate experience in its Chicago or St. Louis office. Counsel candidates will be considered for this opening. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts on behalf of contractors and owners, including a good working knowledge of AIA forms and associated software.  Additional experience in commercial real estate and development are a plus. 

Candidates must have exceptional academic achievement, excellent analytical and writing skills, a client-focused mentality, and ability to function both independently and within a collaborative team.

Business Litigation Senior Associate or Counsel – Chicago

Thompson Coburn’s Chicago office is seeking a Senior Associate with 5-8 years of litigation experience. Counsel candidates will be considered for this opening. The ideal candidate will have developed substantial experience as a legal advisor in commercial matters and proficiency in handling all stages of complex litigation. This position will offer the opportunity to work with a diverse team of experienced litigators. 

Candidates must have exceptional analytical and writing skills, client-focused mentality, and demonstrated ability to function both independently and in a collaborative setting.

Banking & Commercial Finance Associate – Los Angeles

Thompson Coburn is seeking an associate attorney to join our Banking & Commercial Finance group. Candidates should have 2-5 years of experience in the drafting and negotiation of transactions for bank and alternative capital providers on both secured and unsecured financings. Preference given to those with exposure to cross-border or real estate transactions. 

Ideal candidate will be able to draft and negotiate commercial finance transaction documents and understand the various diligence and customary ancillary and closing aspects of typical lending transactions, and further be able to work directly with sophisticated clients and other counsel.
