Webinar
Thompson Coburn’s Higher Education Practice is pleased to announce a comprehensive, two-part webinar series examining the U.S. Department of Education’s new Student Tuition and Transparency System (STATS) and Earnings Accountability (EA) rule – a rule the Department projects will lead to over 60,000 Title IV programs losing Direct Loan eligibility.
September 15, 2026
2:00 PM CT
This series will offer a detailed, in-depth analysis of reporting and implementation timelines, projected impact, disclosure and distribution requirements, the earnings premium test and processes, consequences of failure, and appeals. The series also will consider the early implementation option, voluntary closure, tipped income and other exceptions, and the role and viability of replacement programs.
The webinars will be presented by Aaron Lacey, co-Chair of the firm’s Higher Education Practice. Aaron served as a primary negotiator on the Accountability in Higher Education and Access through Demand-driven Workforce Pell (AHEAD) rulemaking committee, where he negotiated the STATS/EA rule on behalf of non-profit institutions nationwide.
We hope you will join us as we review this significant new rule and its impact on higher education. Participants are welcome to register for the full series or select individual sessions based on their interests and needs.
The first program in our series will provide a comprehensive walkthrough of the following:
- Rulemaking, Reporting, and Implementation
- The New Framework and Projected Impact
- Reporting Requirements
- Early Implementation
- Disclosures and Distribution
- Program Certification Requirements
- The Earnings Premium Test
