Thompson Coburn Welcomes Jay McAveeney as Chief Financial Officer

Thompson Coburn LLP is pleased to announce that Jay McAveeney has joined the firm as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Based in Chicago, McAveeney will focus on innovating financial solutions for business office professionals firmwide in addition to supporting the firm’s continued growth and operational efficiency.

McAveeney brings a wealth of experience as a CFO at AmLaw 50 law firms and has held multiple senior leadership roles throughout his career. As Thompson Coburn’s CFO, he will guide the firm’s financial strategy and resources to facilitate growth and strong economic performance. He will work closely with Chief Operating Officer Allen Capdeboscq Jr. and serve as a member of the senior administrative leadership team, collaborating with other operational leaders across human resources, technology, office operations, and marketing and client relations.

McAveeney joins from Nicolaides Fink Thorpe Michaelides Sullivan LLP, a boutique litigation firm in Chicago where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to that, McAveeney served as the Global Chief Financial Officer for Reed Smith LLP. He earned his J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law and his MBA in Finance from DePaul University. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Purdue University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
