Thompson Coburn’s private client group and two of its practitioners received top praise in the inaugural edition of Chambers’ High Net Worth (by Chambers & Partners), a new guide specifically aimed at the international private wealth market.

The firm received a top Band 1 ranking in Missouri for its overall work on behalf of high net worth clients in the areas of estate and succession planning, estate and income tax planning, complex charitable planning, and philanthropic matters such as the establishment of private foundations. Just one other law firm in Missouri received a Band 1 ranking.

The publication quoted one source as saying, “They are unquestionably the most competent law firm in the country with regard to complex charitable estate and tax planning strategies." Another commentator noted, "Their reputation is just outstanding. They are extremely knowledgeable and they're very responsive.”

Private client group chair Tom Corbett and partner Larry Katzenstein received special commendations in the publication.

Tom advises clients on estate planning and administration matters, including those concerning tax and succession planning for closely held businesses. Chambers reported that “market sources hold Corbett in high regard for the quality of his work.” “[Tom] stands out; he’s got a great practice.”

The High Net Worth guide confirmed Larry’s role as a national authority on estate planning and planned giving. “He is a sought-after resource and has been for many, many years,” one source commented. Another source noted, “In spite of being literally one of the world's most highly qualified experts in this field, he is approachable and puts things in such a way that even the most complex matters can be understood by the lay person.” “He’s softly spoken but when he speaks everybody listens.” “If you're fortunate enough to work with Larry then you will be very well served.”
