Thompson Coburn partners with WNBA’s Dallas Wings, Karima Christmas-Kelly Foundation for holiday giveback

January 6, 2023

Helping families in our communities is always a slam dunk. That’s why Thompson Coburn partnered with the Dallas Wings Community Foundation and the Karima Christmas-Kelly Foundation to raise $13,000 to fulfill 2022 holiday wish lists for families in need in Dallas.

The 16 families we assisted were nominated by the Lullaby House, a Dallas nonprofit that provides housing and support programs to pregnant and parenting teenagers within a safe, nurturing home environment. In the week before Christmas, the families received a house call from Dallas Wings and Thompson Coburn representatives, who delivered toys, games, clothes, and a home essentials basket and gift card for each household.

Thompson Coburn attorneys and staff in Dallas raised funds for the gifting program and hosted a wrapping party at our offices, where Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally and WNBA alum Karima Christmas-Kelly helped our team wrap presents for Lullaby House families.

“For kids, the holidays should be about joy and surprises,” said Dallas Managing Partner Nicole Williams. “Our Dallas office was delighted to partner with the DWCF and Karima’s foundation to bring a worry-free, joy-filled holiday event to families in our Dallas community. Our attorneys and staff are deeply connected to charitable efforts in Dallas, and this effort is the perfect way for us to reach out to deserving families during the holidays.”

Said LaDondra Wilson, Vice President of Social Responsibility for the Dallas Wings, “Because the Dallas Wings strive to be champions on and off the court, our foundation is committed to helping our neighbors in need. We are thrilled to have partnered with Thompson Coburn to execute our inaugural Holiday Giveback to local families in need. We appreciate Thompson Coburn’s generosity through their time, talents, and treasures this holiday season. With the support of our community partner, Lullaby House, we were able to bring holiday cheer and hope to the families — and we look forward to increasing our efforts next year!”

Karima, a 2012 WNBA champion with the Indiana Fever, received donated holiday gifts as a child when her family was struggling. “In the future, if I had the opportunity, I really wanted to give back to others. So here I am, able to do that in Dallas. Thank you for all the help and donations that poured in so we can give to those less fortunate this holiday season.”
