FOCUS St. Louis has announced that Thompson Coburn partner Garrett Fischer has been selected for the 51st Leadership St. Louis program (LSL), a nine-month initiative for leaders committed to enhancing the St. Louis region.
This year’s LSL class includes 58 participants representing area companies, schools and universities, nonprofits and government organizations. LSL is one of six leadership programs offered by FOCUS St. Louis to achieve its mission of educating and connecting leaders to collaborate toward a thriving St. Louis region. The LSL curriculum explores issues such as economic and workforce development, education, health care, local government, arts and culture and more.
As a partner in the Tax Credits practice group, Garrett advises clients on an array of transactional and regulatory matters. He closely analyzes each state tax credit program’s specific requirements to ensure that clients stay compliant with all rules for obtaining credits for community-enhancing projects, including low-income housing, rehabilitation of historic properties, and film production. As part of LSL, Garrett will apply his deep knowledge of tax credit programs and community development initiatives to collaborate with fellow leaders in advancing equitable economic growth across the St. Louis region.
Leadership St. Louis is designed to challenge participants’ thinking, expose them to new ideas and perspectives, and promote discussion, reflection, and action. Thompson Coburn has a rich history with Leadership St. Louis; many of its attorneys have completed the LSL program, including Tonya Oliver Rose, Shaun Broeker, Fatima Khan, Amanda Hettinger, Sara Melly, Ali Rafferty, Ryan Russell Kemper, Bill Bay, Lori Jones, Jarrod Sharp, Ed Cohen, David Dick, Laura Jordan, Cherie Stephens Bock, Larry Friedman, Gayle Mercier and Norma Jackson.
